Pärson to Retire Next Year?

Alpine skiing star Anja Pärson says she will retire from the sport in 2010. Her goal was to quit after the next Olympics, the 27-year-old Swede said in a TV interview with Swedish network TV4. Pärson is one of the greatest female alpine skiers.

She won two World Cup overall titles, seven world championship gold medals and one Olympic gold at the 2006 Turin Games. During her 11 years on the World Cup circuit Pärson won 40 races and is one of only four female racers to win in all five disciplines. (ah)
