Swine Flu

No Swedish Panic after First Danish Case

Despite the fact that neighbouring Denmark has confirmed its first case of swine flu, Sweden will not take further precautions to combat the virus. On Friday, Danish authorities announced that a person travelling home from New York tested positive for the virus - also called the “novel flu”.

But authorities in the southern Swedish region of Skåne do not see any reason to heighten the level of surveillance as the Danish infection case came from outside the country.

Nevertheless, the Swedish customs authority is starting an information campaign at the border to Denmark to remind travellers to contact health authorities in case someone shows flu symptoms.
