Pirate Bay Might Face Prosecution in Italy

The Swedish file sharing site “The Pirate Bay” might face prosecution in Italy. Swedish newspaper “Dagens Industri” reports that the district attorney of Bergamo, Simona Lavagnini, intends to charge the founders of the file sharing site for having infringed copyrights. Lavagnini told “Dagens Industri” he expects a trial in Italy could lead to the same outcome as the one here in Sweden.

The four founders of “The Pirate Bay” had been found guilty of infringing copyrights, but their lawyers already announced their clients will appeal the verdict.

According to one of the lawyers the district attorney of Bergamo merely intends to conduct a symbolic trial against file sharers. “The Pirate Bay” has never been active on Italian soil.
