Swine Flu

First Case in Sweden Confirmed

The Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control has reported the first confirmed case of swine flu in this country.

On its website, the institute says its laboratory has confirmed that a woman from Stockholm in her 50’s has tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

The woman became ill after a trip to the United States. She was only sick for three days, had only mild symptoms, and never required hospital care.

The Swedish health authorities have said there are no indications she has infected others. Members of her family have been given anti-flu medication, but have shown no symptoms.
