Malmö Launches in Second Life

The southern Swedish city of Malmö has launched its presence in the virtual world Second Life.

However, after spending more than one million dollars on the project, the inauguration was reportedly somewhat subdued. Carina Nilsson, who chairs Malmö’s e-democracy project, tells the newspaper “Sydsvenska Dagbladet” that Second Life perhaps no longer feels like the IT frontier.

When Foreign Minister Carl Bildt inaugurated the Swedish Embassy in Second Life two years ago, the virtual world was much more regarded as the vanguard of the online community.
