Professor Warns Against Energy Drinks

As sales of energy drinks go through the roof here in Sweden, a professor of physiology is warning that people that go to the gym to burn off those extra calories, should drink water instead. Professor Bengt Saltin says the energy drinks contain too many calories and mean that the body stops burning fat after a hard session at the gym. Not good news for anyone hoping to lose weight from those hours on the treadmill.

Swedes bought over 14.7 million litres of energy drinks last year, many buying a can rather than drinking water, something Saltin says could make those extra kilos extra hard work to get rid of.
