Institute: Day Care Kids Are Smarter

A new Swedish study suggests that small children profit from being enrolled in pre-school day care centers. The study, published by the National Institute of Public Health, combines results from a number of research groups. According to the institute children from one to three years of age who regularly spend time in day care show advanced intellectual capabilities compared to toddlers who stay at home.

The Health Institute reported that last year 46 percent of Sweden’s children between the ages of one and two years took part in day care activities. With children from two to three years the rate was 86 percent.
