Unemployment: Bad Start to July

The financial downturn is now really having an effect on the number of unemployed in Sweden. During the first three days of July 2.250 people were given notice from their employer, compared to 2.400 people who were given notice during the whole month of July last year.

This is according to preliminary statistics from the national Employment Office. In the end of last week, there were 240.000 people registered as unemployed, which is 5000 more than the week before and over 100.000 more than the same week last year.
