How many times haven't you heard stories of child labour or people working under slave-like conditions? And you may also have wondered why it is being allowed to continue in spite of the deplorable situation. Most of the time the answer is simple.
There are no trade unions, or if they exist, they're ineffective for various reasons. Swedish trade unions may flex their muscles to protect the interests of their members but many people in many countries work under miserable conditions simply because they have weak unions, or no trade union tradition at all, to safeguard their rights.
Radio Sweden's Azariah Kiros looks at a project in which Swedish blue and white collar unions cooperate to help their sister organisations in other countries.
