Organic Food Sales Jump

Sales of organic food have increased by 35% during the first quarter this year despite the economic slump, reports Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

Pia Högström, marketing manager at Krav, an organization that certifies Swedish organic food, says the increase comes down to both new products and consumers’ growing consciousness of environmental issues.

Although organic food sales are on the rise here, they still only make up 2.5% of the Swedish market.
