The figures indicate that 503 000 Swedes, which is 9.8 % of the national work force were unemployed in June this year. Last June that number was 8.1 %.
The number of employed men decreased by 74 000 since last year, while the number of employed women did not demonstrate enough statistical data to show any significant change. This could be because the sector hit hardest by the financial crisis was industry, which is still very male dominated in Sweden.
Also, among the 15-24 year olds in Sweden unemployment reached 29.7 % this June.
