Swedes Interrogated in Pakistan

A Swede of Algerian origin who was detained in the Guantanamo prison in Cuba for two-and-half years is once again in the Swedish news headlines.

Mehdi Ghezali was finally released from the American prison in Cuba in 2004 without charges brought against him.

Since then, he’s been leading a secluded life in the Swedish town of Örebro until he suddenly materialised in Pakistan some two weeks ago together with two other Swedes now being interrogated by Pakistani security – accused of trying to contact known terrorists there.
