Swede Gets Life Sentence for Terrorism

The 43 year old Lebanese-born Swedish citizen Oussamma Kassir was given a life sentence by a federal court in New York on Tuesday. Kassir was convicted of terrorist crimes by the court in May this year, for providing support for al Qaida, among others by trying to set up a training camp for terrorists in Oregon in 1999.

He was also found guilty of operating websites showing how to assemble bombs and put together poisonous concoctions. The evidence for this was among others found in Kassirs computer.

Swedish prosecutors were given the information about him in 2005, but found that there was insufficient evidence to press charges. Kassir was arrested later the same year in Prague, and extradited to the US in 2007.
