Blackout on Passenger Ferry

Passengers onboard the Viking Line ferry “Mariella” had an unpleasant experience early Saturday morning. On its daily route from Helsinki in Finland to Stockholm in Sweden, the ship was hit by a total electricity blackout some 40 kilometers off the coast - leaving the nearly 1,200 people on the ship in the dark for 45 minutes.

As the ferry was totally disabled, a ship of the Finnish coast guard approached to help. But fortunately the electricity came back before further security measures had to be taken.
