Swine Flu Vaccine Delayed Again

The delivery of the vaccine against Swine Flu is to be delayed yet again. Only half of the 900 thousand doses due to be delivered to Sweden in the middle of October will actually get here by then. The rest will come around a week later, according to the newspaper Göteborgs Posten.

The first batches are to be given to those "risk groups" who have been given priority to the vaccine by the Swedish authorities. These include patients with heart conditions and medical staff.

The vaccine, Pandemix, was approved by the European Medicines Agency Friday.

The number of cases of Swine Flu being reported to the Swedish authorities is falling, and they now do not expect any major outbreak of the illness in Sweden until the end of October at the earliest.
