Swedes Keen to Hunt Pirates

Around 2000 hopeful applicants have requested a place among the 160 aboard the HMS Carlskrona when Sweden shoulders responsibility for the EU pirate patrols off the Somali coast.

“This assignment is seen as both exciting and a chance to do some real good,” said Jimmy Adamsson, Communications Officer for the 3d Naval Warfare Flotilla, to local daily Blekinge Läns Newspaper.

The flotilla is planning on staring to send out the admission notices next week and the lucky few will be reporting for duty by 2 November.
