Swedish Presidency's Biggest Event

The largest event of the Swedish European Union presidency is underway in Stockholm. Representatives from more than 130 countries and many organizations here to discuss global issues during the annual European Development Days.

The host of the three-day event, Minister for International Development Assisstance Gunilla Carlsson, expressed hopes for lively debates on the topics of democracy, economy, and climate. Altogether there are more than 6000 people taking part in European Development Days.

As the conference got underway, the Washington-based Center for Global Development reported that Sweden leads the world helping the poor countries. The center’s annual Commitment to Development Index ranks 22 rich countries on how their policies on aid, trade, investment, technology and migration promote global development.
