Swine Flu Vaccinations Continue Here

Swedish health authorities insist that all Swedes will be granted the same swine flu vaccinations - and that Sweden is not following the German example of saving a variation with fewer side effects for top priority groups.

Nevertheless, many Swedes insist they will not get the vaccination out of fear of side effects - sparking claims from some doctors that this will cause deaths because infected people will spread the flu. News reports say that 40% of some hospital staffs refuse to get the vaccine.

The first vaccinations have started here for priority groups such as pregnant women, school children, the chronically ill and hospital workers. Mass vaccination is to begin in Stockholm next week.

The authorities report that so far, one million of the 9 million residents in this Nordic nation have been vaccinated.
