Sahlin Prepares for Party Speech

The leader of the largest party in opposition, Mona Sahlin, will address the Social Democratic party congress on Wednesday afternoon hoping to lay out her vision that will lead her party to success in next year's general election.

During the five day congress, more than 1,000 motions will be put forward for discussion including those involving tax, education, jobs and crime such as plans to increase the punishment for those who buy sex from prostitutes, already a criminal offence in Sweden.

Sahlin has had a rocky ride since taking over from Göran Persson as leader of the Social Democrats after a crushing electoral defeat in 2006.
