New Power Plant to Replace Old?

Swedish Radio News reported on Friday that the Swedish energy giant Vattenfall had plans to build a new nuclear reactor in Sweden together with newly formed company Industrikraft Sweden. The plans were to be made public at a press conference on Friday morning, said Swedish Radio News.

However, at the press conference it was announced that a cooperation between the two companies was indeed afoot and that a new reactor might be needed within 10 to 15 years, most likely to replace an old one. But according to Industrikraft, other alternatives are also under consideration.

Industrikraft Sweden was formed only six months before the government parties agreed in February this year that it would be legal to build new reactors in Sweden.
