Blix Sees Future in Nuclear Energy

Hans Blix, the former head of the United Nations Inspection Commission, says the world opinion towards nuclear energy is improving amid the political struggle to stop global warming. Speaking to Swedish Radio news, Blix maintained that many countries in Europe are on the verge to re-thinking their former anti-nuclear-power policies.

Asian countries such as China are totally committed to an increase of nuclear energy at their electricity markets, Blix added. Ahead of the UN global climate summit in Copenhagen in December, Blix expressed his confidence that world leaders will acknowledge the effectiveness of nuclear power in order to curb carbon dioxide emissions. After having retired as politician, Blix is now working as consultant for the nuclear energy branch.
