Prosecutor Against Östberg Pardon

Chief prosecutor Gunnar Brodin is not ready to agree to an early release of Annika Östberg from prison. The 55-year old Swedish woman is serving a lifetime sentence for complicity in two murders committed 1981 in the United States. She was transferred to Sweden in April to serve the rest of her sentence in her home country.

Next Monday Östberg is scheduled to appear before the Örebro District Court to apply for an early release. Chief prosecutor Brodin is not willing at this time to pardon Östberg, saying she will need a longer period of adaptation to a life outside of prison.
