The new Stockholm sports arena has gotten the greenlight.
The local councillor responsible for sports, Madeleine Sjöstedt, writes in a press release that with the completed financing, the last bit of the puzzle is in place.
The new arena will seat 30,000 (and will hold up to 40,000 for concerts with standing room). The roof will be moveable and the artificial turf will be replaceable with grass or ice. It will be built next to Stockholm’s Globe Arena.
The Stockholm City Council will make the formal decision to approve the project in December, and the arena is expected to be finished by December 2012.
