EU-Russia Summit "A Success"

Wednesday’s annual summit meeting between Russia and the European Union resulted in agreement over climate issues, but also revealed concerns over Moscow’s human rights record.

Meeting in Stockholm during the Swedish EU presidency, Russia agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 20 to 25 percent from 1990 levels by 2020. But Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, who hosted the summit, says concern was also expressed over the rule of law and democracy in Russia, and especially the situation for human rights activists there.
