Pay First, Then We Investigate

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and his wife, MEP Anna Corazza Bildt, have lost a case against the Swedish tax authorities. They will have to pay preliminary Swedish taxes for their nanny.

Anna Corazza Bildt says she’s already paid the Italian payroll tax for the nanny, but they will now pay the Swedish taxes as well. The Swedish tax authority says the 47 year old nanny is responsible to pay taxes in Sweden, no matter in what country she has received her income, as she is considered to live here.

The tax authority says that it will now investigate if the Bildt’s are officially the nanny’s employer and what country’s social insurance system she is covered by.
