Human Rights On EU China Agenda?

Members of the European Parliament have called on Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt to bring up human rights when he meets the Chinese leadership next week in his role as president of the European Union.

Reinfeldt is heading to China ahead of the climate change conference in Copenhagen.

According to the news agency AFP the MEPs want Reinfeldt and the European Commission to bring up the situation in Xinjiang and Tibet, and introduce a clause on human rights in the new agreement between the EU and China which is currently being negotiated.
