Stockholm Program New Addition to EU

Gathered in Brussels for the second of the two-day EU top summit, European leaders have clubbed through a key feature of Sweden’s EU presidency: the Stockholm Program. Meant to ensure EU collaboration on issues of justice, migration, and policing, the Program will replace the soon-to-be-expired Hague Program, which has been in place since November 2004.

The Stockholm Program has been discussed several times in the run-up to the December meeting, including at an informal meeting of EU justice ministers held in Stockholm in July.
