Wine Sales Hit New Record High

Wine sales in Sweden hit a new record high – at least wine sold by the state’s monopoly shops Systembolaget. News agency TT reports that Systembolaget will have sold more than 174 million liters of wine at the end of this year.

The increase in wine sales is higher than for other alcoholic beverages, the company’s statistics show – making wine Systembolaget’s number one product on offer.

With more and more Danes and Norwegians ordering from the Swedish state monopoly, even Systembolaget’s international sales figures went up this year.

Wine consumption in Sweden has doubled since 1996 when the first wines in boxes were introduced.
