Lund University To Grow Dramatically
Sweden’s Lund University has announced a substantial expansion of its employee base, newspaper Sydsvenskan reports. With a budget surplus of 451 million kronor (62 million USD) at its disposal, the university wants to hire 300-400 new teachers and researchers within the next year.
“We have been very good at bringing in competitive research grants. But we haven’t taken the time to hire people. There’s been a backlog,” Vice-Chancellor Per Eriksson told the newspaper.
Part of the reason for the employee increase is the desire to reduce the budget surplus to 16 million kronor, or just over 2 million USD.
