2,000 Lay-Offs After Posten Shows Loss
The Swedish-Danish postal conglomerate Posten has posted a fourth quarter loss of 95 million US dollars. 2,000 employees may now lose their job as a result.
The announcement comes after a heavy 2009 for the company, which saw upwards of 4,000 employees let go. Posten’s CEO Lars G. Nordström told news agency TT that the company will use all the means at its disposal to cut down its force, including severance packages and plain lay-offs.
But Posten’s customers shouldn’t be affected by the move at all, he said. “The individual customer will not see any change.”
