"Stasi Spies Should Be Made Public"

Liberal Party MP Carl B. Hamilton wants the names of Swedes suspected of spying for the East German intelligence agency Stasi to be released publicly. But the Swedish Security Service has continuously refused to make the information public, maintaining that it could pose a risk to national security.

Justice Minister Beatrice Ask agrees, having said earlier that she doesn’t find any compelling reasons to release the names.

But Hamilton says that the people on the list should be informed that they have been under suspicion. They have “a right to their own history,” he told news agency TT.
