Shock Hockey Defeat For Sweden

Sweden, the defending Olympic hockey champions have been knocked out of the Vancouver 2010 tournament 4-3 by Slovakia in a shock defeat in Wednesday night's quarter-final.

The Slovaks are now through to Friday's semi-finals where they will play host nation Canada, who knocked out Russia 7-3 in their heavyweight quarter-final.

For Sweden there was only disappointment as the usually reliable Henrik Lundqvist let three straight pucks get past him in the second period. He finished with just 10 saves.

Peter Forsberg, playing his last Games for Sweden said " «It's tough the way we lost, this is not the way we wanted it to end."

Marian Gaborik, Andrej Sekera, Pavol Demitra and Tomas Kopecky scored for Slovakia.
