The remains of the roof in Kristinehamn

Roofs Keep Collapsing in Sweden's South

Roofs continue to collapse in Sweden due to the weight of the snow. On Monday, the roof of an Ikea warehouse buckled in Torsvik outside the city of Jönköping, and parts of a food store roof collapsed in Kristinehamn. No one is thought to have been injured in either of the two incidents.

The collapses come on the heels of numerous other cases of roofs giving in throughout Sweden's southern regions. A great amount of wet snow fell over the weekend, adding to a load of snow and ice already on the roofs after months of unusually harsh storms.

Several people have died in such accidents this winter, including a 60-year-old man who was killed while shovelling snow off his roof in Nässjö on Sunday.
