Sweden Preparing to Help Chile
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is preparing for different ways of assisting Chile in coping with the damages caused by last weekend’s earthquake. A spokesperson told Swedish Radio that the agency was checking the list of requests submitted by Chile. She said that after a decision on what kind of help was best suited, Swedish planes could leave for Chile on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Swedish embassy in Santiago is continuing efforts to contact all of the roughly 600 Swedes who are residents of Chile. On Tuesday morning about a hundred of them still were not accounted for.
