Unemployment at 8,3% in 2009

408,000 people in Sweden - or 8,3 of the work force - were unemployed during 2009. That is 104,000 people more than the year before, according to new data from Statistics Sweden.

The region in the west of the country, in and around Gothenburg, was worst affected, with 25,000 fewer people in employment than in 2008.
