Record Support for Greens

Support for Sweden's Green Party (miljöpartiet) is at a record level according to the latest pre-September election poll carried out by Demoskop on behalf of the Expressen newspaper.

The Green party has increased its popular support by three percent to 10.6 percent, giving the red-green opposition alliance a majority in parliament with 50.1 percent if the election was today.

Maria Wetterstrand, joint leader of the Greens, told Expressen newspaper " We feel a tailwind."

Support for the opposition Social Democrats and Left parties dropped off. In the government alliance of centre-right parties, the Conservative Moderates lost the most by 2.6 percent dropping down to 27.3 percent.

Demoskop interviewed 1011 people in the period between 24 february and 3rd March.
