Ice Breakers Free Ships

Conditions are easing slightly in the Baltic Sea with most of the 20 ships stuck overnight in thick ice in Swedish waters have now received help from the ice breakers.

"The situation is starting to clear up. There are some vessels still waiting for assistance from the ice breakers but that is normal at this time of year," Johny Lindvall, head of the Swedish maritime Association told TT news.

The biggest problem right now is the area around Gävle bay but the situation there is expected to ease by late afternoon.
