Östberg Moved to Rehab Center

Annika Östberg, who returned to Sweden in April last year after having spent 28 years in prison in California for murder, has been transferred to a rehabilitation center in Nykvarn. Swedish media reports that Östberg will work there at a dog shelter. The move is seen as a first step towards a release from prison which could take place in May next year.

After Östberg’s return to Sweden, Örebro county court had converted her life sentence into a fixed-term sentence of 45 years. According to Swedish law, a convict can be released after two thirds of the term.
