Parliament Passes Bill on Labor Conflicts

The Swedish parliament has passed controversial legislation restricting industrial action against foreign companies who bring in their own workers temporarily.

The bill implements a decision by the European Court of Justice following a labor conflict involving Latvian workers not covered by Swedish collective bargaining agreements. The opposition Social Democrat, Green, and Left parties sought to block the legislation, regarding it as an illegitimate restriction of the Swedish labor model.
