Police Violence Not Investigated

Complaints against the police in Sweden rarely result in any action being taken, according to a new investigation by Swedish Radio news.

The chief prosecutor in a controversial case of a youth who died in police custody has a particularly poor record.

Prosecutor, Björn Ericson has only pressed charges once despite dealing with nearly 500 police complaints cases. Ericson was responsible for the controversial case of a 24-year old who died in 2008 following his arrest by police in Gothenburg. Eye witnesses claimed that the youth died due to police brutality but the preliminary investigation was dropped.
