Hotel and Restaurant Strike Averted

The strike threatened by trade unions in the hotel and restaurant sector has been called off, Swedish Radio News reports. The unions and employers’ organizations managed to agree to a two-year collective agreement, which guarantees workers a wage hike of 50 US dollars per month this year, and 75 USD per month the next.

Another point at issue has been how temporary workers are treated. As per the new agreement, companies will now have to employ people with conditional tenure if they need permanent help, rather than hiring them on a day-to-day basis.
