A public agency says there is no scientific basis for the methods used here to prevent mental ill-health among children.
According to the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment, 10 to 25 percent of children have mental problems so severe that those around them suffer. There are around one hundred different programs here to deal with these problems, the agency says, but there’s no research into how well they work. Some might even have negative effects.
International studies indicate that a handful of prevention programs might have success, and the council says the first step would be a study of how well those particular programs are working here.
