Sweden Wins Hockey Quarterfinal Bout

Sweden beat Denmark 4-2 in today's World Ice Hockey Championship quarterfinals, pulling ahead early and holding the lead through the rest of the match. Denmark's Swedish coach, Per Bäckman, just couldn't muster enough to beat his former home country.

While the win wasn't as spectacular as Sweden's 10-3 win against Denmark in a pre-championships friendly, it was still more than enough to move onto the semifinals of the tournament.

Sweden last clinched the Ice Hockey World Championships in 2006, and has won the gold a total of eight times during the championships' history.
