Spring Flood and Summer Lighting

Spring storms have hit central Sweden, at the same time as melting mountain snow is causing floods in the north.

Up to 130,000 people could be without running water in central Sweden, after lighting hit the Örebro country water works on Thursday night. At the same time, the heavy rain caused a county road to collapse; just before midnight the fire service pulled out a car that was hanging in the six metre wide hole.

While in the northern country of Jämntland people were building sandbag walls on Thursday evening to keep out rising flood water - and the meteorological service says to expect two more days of flood.
