Taking a leak outdoors could be dearer than you think. Last year police caught a record number of people urinating in public places, according to Dagens Nyheter. 4709 people - most of them men - were then fined for the offensive act. It cost them just over 100 dollars, and brought 487,000 US dollars to the state coffers. It seems police has become more active in pursuing these offenders, or people have become more eager to do it outdoors, because seven years ago, there was only 900 people fined for urinating in public places.
Last year, most people were caught doing it in Västra Götaland county, which means in and around the town of Gothenburg.
