Åre, in better days

Åre Hit by Floods, Landslides

Torrential rains have caused flooding and landslides in the ski resort town of Åre in Sweden's north. The main railway and other roads in the area have been closed because of rising water and floating debris.

"Clumps of earth, big stones, wood and rubbish are coming with the water," Bengt Svedberg of the local rescue service told Swedish Radio News.

The rain began falling Thursday night and is set to continue through Friday night.
