Pilot Denies Involvement in Robbery, Cites Drug Alibi

The person suspected of piloting the helicopter in the dramatic robbery of a Swedish vault last fall denied being involved in the crime.

News agency TT reports that on Thursday, the man testified that he had had to work the night before the robbery. He said that he felt stressed before an important meeting that was to take place the next day and that he met a few people that night to buy drugs.

He claimed that he has had drug problems for the last four or five years.

Police arrested the man in September, three days after the crime took place, at Arlanda airport in Stockholm. He was on his way to the Canary Islands.
