Cuts in Post Employees, Library Books

The Swedish postal services says it will fire 500 employees during the next four years in connection with investments in new internet systems.

The service has already closed many post offices all around the country - substituting this with postal services run out of Swedish food and other stores - with the chashiers fetching recommended letters and packages and selling stamps to the customers.

Other reports maintain that Sweden's libraries have made drastic cuts in the purchase of new books - especially those in foreign languages - to help cover the enormous investments in new internet technology.
