Paintings Worth Millions Lost, Found

Paintings worth millions of dollars have been stolen from an art museum in Malmö, southern Sweden, Swedish Radio news reports. But the heist wasn’t discovered until police house search in Landskrona, a few hours away from Malmö.

One of the paintings by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch is valued at 1.4 million dollars.

Göran Christenson, the curator at the museum, said he was surprised to learn that the paintings had been stolen. Until recently the Edvard Munch painting had been on display in the museum but it had recently been taken down to the storage room.

Christenson said he wasn’t aware that the paintings, which included one by Gustaf Rydberg and one by Pär Siegård, were missing before police called him on Wednesday evening.
