High-ranking officer under suspicion

A Swedish police officer - who was formerly a high ranking boss at the European Police College - is the subject of a criminal investigation, says Swedish television's Rapport.

The officer is suspected in connection with financial irregularities during his time at the college.

Employees may have used company cars, credit cards and even furnishings, for private use.

The officer under suspicion left the European Police College, or CEPOL, in 2009 and works at the national police board on employer issues.

The British police are dealing with the case.
